  • Theme URI is not appropriate.
  • Call to wp_footer() must come immediately before closing HTML </body> tag.
  • HTML <title> tag must include only a call to wp_title(), and modifications must be implemented via the wp_title filter.
  • Nav menus must support wp_nav_menu()
  • Removal of autosave and post revisions is Plugin territory
  • Removal of wptexturize() from the_content() is Plugin territory
  • Remove function_exists() conditional wrapper from call to register_sidebar()
  • All code in functions.php must be wrapped in a callback and hooked into an appropriate action hook. e.g. widgets_init for register_sidebar() calls.
  • All Theme functions must be uniquely prefixed with a reasonable approximation of theme-slug
