Description

Energy - 1.0

The Energy theme is a stylish, neat, and fully customizable WordPress theme. Make it yours with the easy customizable theme options with a simple "check-box" interface to easily change colors, fonts, header, menus, sidebars, and much more. Uses "Superfish" menu effects and it has built-in pagination for post pages and comments. Energy has six widget areas with an optional sidebar on the left or right hand side and has an optional one-column page template that removes the sidebar. Special styles for posts in the "Asides", "Status", and "Gallery" categories and has Internet Explorer support, HTML5 support, and a active support forum.

RECOMMENDED: Screenshot is wrong size! Detected: 300x250px. Maximum allowed size is 320x240px.

RECOMMENDED: Author URI: is missing from your style.css header.

INFO: js/ie-pie/PIE.php The theme appears to use include or require. If these are being used to include separate sections of a template from independent files, then get_template_part() should be used instead.
Line 18: include( 'PIE.htc' );
Note: Several themes on WordPress.org use PIE without this info warning.

Other issues:

  • Theme is completely unusable in Internet Explorer 7. Header is missing, menus are unusable, etc. While WordPress 3.2 drops IE6 support in 3.2 (which isn't out yet), it is unfortunately still common practice to support IE7 (at least to the point where it is usable).
  • Menu blowout layout issues. When too many items are added to the primary menu, it covers the submenu, relocates the search box, and causes layout issues. The submenu also blows out if you add more than a single row of items. Ultimately this is a design decision, but at the very least all menu items should be visible somehow (even if it doesn't look pretty). White text blowing out onto an area that has a white background is going to confuse users.
  • Default background image as presented in screenshot, and on theme URL did not work upon installation, background was simply solid black.
  • Header image: Removing the background image setting completely removes the entire header including titles, likely the entire div. Only the image should be removed, the header itself should remain in some capacity.
