Hi,

Hate to be the barrier of bad news and not really sure why so obvious was not explained to you in previous reviews.

Theme URL - http://www.dreamdogs.co.uk/dogs-life-wordpress-theme-6493.html is not valid Theme URL.

  • Theme URI, if used, is required to link to a page specifically related to the Theme. If a demonstration site or page is being used, the content must be related to the theme itself.

Credit Link (footer.php) <a href="http://www.dreamdogs.co.uk/dogs-life-wordpress-theme-6493.html">Dream Dogs WordPress Theme</a> is also not valid nor allowed either.

  • Themes may optionally include a public-facing credit link in the Theme footer.
  • Credit link anchor text and title are required to be relevant and appropriate with respect to the linked site. Spam or SEO-seeded anchor text and titles may subject Themes to automatic rejection.

I will not close this ticket as not-approved because this was not noted before, however they're requirements and sorry to say but dreamdogs.co.uk isn't a URL that will be passed.

Workaround is to include Theme URL only and you can leave this in instead: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/dogs-life the future URL on WPORG.

Thanks!

P.S. Previous reviewers are CCd here too :)

It may sounds weired, but I'm actually glad this comes up. :)

I'm not too happy about the entire "Credit Link" section of the Theme Review codex page. And when I say "not too happy", I mean I hate this part of every review, because of the enormous propability that my findings won't correlate with the opionion of more seasoned reviewers (as it happened on this one). While this seems so obvious to you - to me, unfortunately, it rarely is.

As far as I am concerned, said Theme URI does follow the guideline, since it links to a page specifically related to the Theme. It has some explanations, a list of features, a download link and finishes with: "let us know if you have any problems using the theme, or have any questions or ideas for improving it." In my point of view, it's actually one of the better Theme pages I've seen!

Same goes for the credit link. It doesn't say "Get Viagra now!" or "Free Premium WordPress Themes". What is relevant and appropriate in this context?

I did address dreamdogs.co.uk being inappropriate as Author URL in the first ticket. But still, a definition of what we understand under a project/development website would probably be welcomed by many.

I'm still a pretty green Reviewer and - as I pointed out in various other threads - all I can do is base my findings on the guidelines I can find and read somewhere. I want to be the best help that I can around here. You know I'm always open for feedback and I appreciate every opportunity to learn more about our proceedings. This is why I'm so grateful you brought this up! :)

But let me finish with this:

I'd love to have a clearer Credit Link guideline with less leeway for both Theme Authors and Reviewers!

I apologies for the mistake done, from next time I will be more careful while reviewing.

Im confused as to what would constitute a valid URL? the URL given is a non-commercial site, it takes no money, it has all the required details asked for in the specification, the link is not spammy, SEO seeded or promoting little blue pills.

The page is there to offer help with the theme and allows people to contact me directly if there are problems, would it be possible to get an solid idea of what is required that is agreed upon by all? before I make changes and repost.

"I'd love to have a clearer Credit Link guideline with less leeway for both Theme Authors and Reviewers!" + 1

thank you.

THEME URI: required to link to a page specifically related to the Theme. If a demonstration site or page is being used, the *content must be related to the theme itself*.

Hi,

There's no need to reopen this ticket, guides are pretty clear

  • Theme URI, if used, is required to link to a page specifically related to the Theme. If a demonstration site or page is being used, the content must be related to the theme itself.
  • Dogs, Dogs Breeding etc is sorry to say not relevant at all.

Theme URI, if used, is required to link to a page specifically related to the Theme.

This is the part I find confusing, the guide stipulates a page not an entire site, so the link points to a page that is relevant to the theme and contains the required information.

"If a demonstration site or page is being used, the content must be related to the theme itself"

Im not using a demonstration site or page, so does the content still need to be related to theme?

If dreamdogs.co.uk was a development blog, would the URI still be in question? if so maybe some clarification on acceptable URI's (obviously things like freewordpressawesomethemesforfree.com would not be accepted ) :)

You can exclude Author URL and change your Theme URL to: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/dogs-life that's what your future WPORG URL will be and with this all problems as far as the credit links will be solved.

If users have questions they can post directly in http://wordpress.org/support/ where you can subscribe and when someone asks a question you can receive a notification by e-mail.

If this was a dev blog, yes it would be acceptable. We cannot really add all acceptable URIs that's why WPORG guides uses "related".

Thanks!

I resubmitted and followed this advice:

You can exclude Author URL and change your Theme URL to: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/dogs-life that's what your future WPORG URL will be and with this all problems as far as the credit links will be solved.

and my ticket was greeted with:

Resolution set to not-approved

Theme URI redirect on http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/
Theme URI, if used, is required to link to a page specifically related to the Theme. If a demonstration site or page is being used, the content must be related to the theme itself.
Need Author URI. Check Credit Link

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
